1Monday | Embarkation in Luxor – Karnak & Luxor Temples
Upon arrival in Luxor, you will board your Nile cruise and complete the check-in procedures. Take some time to settle into your cabin and enjoy the beginning of your journey along the Nile.
Enjoy your first lunch on board while the cruise prepares for the afternoon sightseeing program.
In the afternoon, meet your Egyptologist guide and begin your tour of Luxor’s East Bank with a visit to Karnak Temple, one of the largest and most impressive temple complexes in Egypt. Explore its monumental gateways, enormous columns, ancient courtyards, and the famous Great Hypostyle Hall while learning about the pharaohs and religious ceremonies that once took place here.
Continue to Luxor Temple, located in the heart of modern Luxor. The temple was dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship and was closely connected to Karnak by the ancient Avenue of Sphinxes. Admire its massive pylons, statues, columns, and beautifully preserved reliefs.
After the sightseeing tour, return to the cruise boat for dinner and relax on board.
2Tuesday | Luxor West Bank – Valley of the Kings – Hatshepsut Temple – Esna
Start your morning with breakfast before heading to Luxor’s famous West Bank, where some of the most important monuments of ancient Thebes are located.
Your first stop is the Valley of the Kings, the famous royal necropolis where many New Kingdom pharaohs were buried. Explore selected tombs decorated with colorful scenes, hieroglyphic inscriptions, and religious texts designed to guide the deceased into the afterlife.
Continue to the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. Built against the dramatic cliffs of the Theban Mountains, the temple features large terraces, impressive colonnades, and reliefs depicting important events from Hatshepsut’s reign.
Before returning to the cruise, stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two gigantic statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. These famous monuments have welcomed visitors to the West Bank for centuries and provide a memorable photo opportunity.
Return to the cruise and enjoy lunch as the boat begins sailing south toward Esna. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the sundeck, watching the beautiful Nile landscapes, agricultural fields, villages, and palm trees pass by.
Enjoy traditional afternoon tea on the sundeck while cruising toward Esna. In the evening, have dinner on board and relax as the cruise reaches Esna.
3Wednesday | Edfu Temple – Sailing to Kom Ombo
Enjoy breakfast on board as the cruise continues its journey toward Edfu. Take in the peaceful scenery of the Nile Valley from the deck before arriving at Edfu.
Upon arrival, visit the spectacular Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of the best-preserved ancient Egyptian temples. Dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus, the temple is famous for its enormous entrance pylons, impressive columns, detailed reliefs, and inscriptions describing ancient religious traditions.
Your Egyptologist guide will explain the temple’s history and the important role it played in the worship of Horus during the Ptolemaic period.
Return to the cruise after the visit and continue sailing toward Kom Ombo. Enjoy lunch on board while watching the changing scenery along the Nile.
Spend the afternoon relaxing on the sundeck. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the river and traditional afternoon tea while the cruise makes its way south.
Arrive in Kom Ombo and enjoy dinner on board. The evening is free to relax and enjoy the facilities of the cruise.
4Thursday | Kom Ombo Temple – Aswan High Dam – Unfinished Obelisk – Philae Temple
After breakfast, begin your morning visit to one of the most unusual temples along the Nile.
Visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, uniquely dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile-headed god associated with fertility and the Nile, and Horus the Elder, the falcon-headed god. Explore the temple’s courtyards, columns, reliefs, and ancient inscriptions while learning about its distinctive dual design.
Return to the cruise and continue sailing toward Aswan. Enjoy lunch on board as the scenery gradually changes and the Nile becomes surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of southern Egypt.
After arriving in Aswan, begin your city tour with a visit to the Aswan High Dam, one of Egypt’s most significant modern engineering projects. Learn about its importance in controlling the annual Nile flood and providing hydroelectric power.
Continue to the Unfinished Obelisk, located in the ancient granite quarries of Aswan. This enormous monument provides a fascinating look at how ancient Egyptian craftsmen extracted and shaped massive blocks of stone.
The final stop is the beautiful Philae Temple, dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis. Located on an island in the Nile, the temple complex is surrounded by water and is particularly impressive for its combination of ancient architecture and spectacular natural scenery.
Return to the cruise after the tour, enjoy dinner, and relax on board.
5Friday | Optional Abu Simbel – Felucca Ride – Botanical Garden
Enjoy breakfast on board before beginning your final full day in Aswan.
For guests who choose the optional excursion, depart early in the morning for Abu Simbel. The site is home to the magnificent temples built by Pharaoh Ramses II and dedicated to the gods, with the smaller temple dedicated to Queen Nefertari. The enormous rock-cut façades and beautifully preserved interior decorations make Abu Simbel one of Egypt’s most extraordinary archaeological sites.
After exploring the temples, return to Aswan.
Enjoy lunch and some time to relax after the morning excursion.
In the afternoon, experience one of Aswan’s most enjoyable activities with a traditional felucca ride on the Nile. Sail around the islands and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, fresh breeze, and beautiful views of Aswan’s riverbanks.
Continue to Kitchener’s Botanical Garden, located on an island in the Nile. Walk through its shaded pathways and discover a diverse collection of tropical, subtropical, and exotic plants brought from different parts of the world.
Return to the cruise boat for dinner and enjoy your final evening on board in Aswan.
6Saturday | Disembarkation in Aswan
Enjoy your final breakfast on the Nile while taking in the peaceful morning views of Aswan.
After breakfast, complete the check-out procedures and disembark from the cruise. Your Luxor to Aswan Nile Cruise comes to an end after six days of exploring ancient temples, royal tombs, historic monuments, and the beautiful landscapes of the Nile Valley.
